What can you do during your stay at camping Les Grenettes?

Welcome to Orée d’Anjou, a real playground for lovers of nature, local culture and gastronomy! Whether you’re into castles, hiking or culinary delights, you’ll find something to suit all tastes! So let’s follow the guide…

Between valleys, vineyards and viewpoints: a walk in the heart of the Pays Angevin

Without any introduction, it’s time to plunge straight into the heart of nature and take a breath of fresh air. So grab your hiking boots, your camera and let’s go… Go straight from the campsite to the village center. We suggest a pleasant stroll through picturesque lanes, steep paths and country lanes to discover the richness of the Loire landscape. After a steep descent to the charming village of Les Grenettes, once famous for its fishermen and guinguette, the route runs alongside the Boire d’Anjou and leads to the Golfe de l’Île d’Or. A boire? Yes, a rather technical word for the quieter, wilder secondary branches of the Loire, which are also home to a wealth of flora and fauna. You’ll then pass through the typical village of La Bridonnière before tackling a climb offering magnificent panoramic views of the Loire (a bit the star of the area) and its hillsides. The rest of the route winds its way through wooded lanes and typical local hamlets, before returning to the starting point via quiet country roads. A varied and exotic hike, ideal for nature and heritage lovers!

A getaway to Champtoceaux: a nugget of the Loire to explore without moderation!

Welcome to Champtoceaux: a little jewel nestling on the heights of the Loire that will delight lovers of nature, history and beautiful panoramas. Just 7 km from the campsite, enjoy a day out with the whole family, with its heritage, history and lovely views! To start with, head for the Champtoceaux belvedere for an unbeatable view of the Loire! Here, the river spreads out majestically between green hills and picturesque villages. It’s a pretty cool shot… But Champtoceaux is also a village steeped in history, and was once an impregnable stronghold… until the Vendée wars decided otherwise. Today, there are still a few remains of this imposing fortress for you to admire. If you’re a nature lover or a keen walker, explore the many footpaths that wind around Champtoceaux, including the hillside path with its views over the Loire. For those with sea legs, there are guided cruises on the river, so you can see the region in a different way, along the water and observe the wildlife up close…

Country walks through the vineyards... and the Châteaux of Anjou!

The Anjou region is bursting with different landscapes and colour palettes, so take the time to venture out on a variety of walks (although you’re allowed to take breaks) and discover the region’s hidden treasures. For this new walk starting from the campsite, we’re offering a 6km loop suitable for all levels of ability, between hamlets, vineyards and damp meadows. From the starting point on the D751, the path takes you first to the village of Gasselin before crossing La Gulolière and the hamlet of L’Écurie. After a beautiful walk through the local vineyards, you descend to a small stream, which you cross via a footbridge before entering a peaceful wood. The second part of the route offers breathtaking views of the Loire and the surrounding area, passing through the village of Le Tertre and the flower-filled meadows of Les Hautes Sauzaies. Keep your eyes peeled for the castles of Clermont, Oudon and La Varenne along the way. After the effort, the comfort: stop off at the Muscadet and Malvoisie vineyards and treat yourself to a little wine tasting (in moderation, of course)!

Welcome to Nantes: a fine blend of history, heritage and unusual adventures

Nantes is a city where history meets creativity, where the banks of the Loire rub shoulders with oversized machines and centuries-old castles (16 kms from the campsite). Here are the must-sees! Because you’ll undoubtedly pass by this emblematic monument: take the opportunity to delve into the history of the Château des Ducs de Bretagne, a medieval fortress right in the center of town (rather discreet)! Its museum retraces Nantes’ past and offers a walk on its ramparts with a breathtaking view. On the unusual side, you’re sure to pass the Machines de l’Île: a one-of-a-kind attraction featuring mechanical elephants, a fairy-tale carousel and a fantastic bestiary inspired by Jules Verne (who also has his own on-site museum!) and Leonardo da Vinci. It’s an event that’s sure to please young and old alike… And if you’re looking for even more eye candy, cross the Passage Pomeraye, a 19th-century architectural masterpiece, for a shopping spree in a setting worthy of a period film. And since we’re not forgetting nature, take a break at the Jardin des Plantes, with its tropical greenhouses and century-old trees, where you’ll find plenty to recharge your batteries. Snack break? Have you thought about your Petits Beurre Lu? Yes, that’s where they come from!

The vineyards of Anjou - A terroir to be savoured without moderation (or almost)

Because they won’t go unnoticed on your itinerary: it’s impossible to come here without stopping off at the heart of the vineyards and tasting the delicious local wines, whose grape varieties will speak for themselves even overseas. Stop off at a winegrower’s for a tasting and leave with a good bottle (or two, no judging!). From white to red to rosé: there’s something for everyone! From AOC Coteaux d’Ancenis Malvoisie to Muscadet Coteaux de la Loire, Anjou and Crémant, your taste buds will be in for a treat… Come and share your passion for wine with these passionate people, who will tell you more about their trade than we can.

Step back in time: welcome to the medieval Château d'Oudon...

With its immense tower overlooking the Loire, this medieval fortress is sure to impress. Dating back to the 14th century, the château was once used to keep an eye on comings and goings on the river. And it’s fair to say that it has seen its share of battles and historical twists and turns! Today, it’s possible to climb to the top of the keep to admire an exceptional panoramic view over the Loire Valley (hang on for the climb!). It’s an immersive way to travel back in time and enjoy a great family outing. The château offers a scenographic tour that immerses you in the heart of the Middle Ages. Thanks to projections and interactive staging, you’ll discover the history of the fortress and its lords as if you were there. And keep your ears open for some juicy anecdotes… After the visit, why not extend the experience with a stroll along the banks of the Loire? Combining bucolic paths with the picturesque little streets of the village of Oudon, it’s an ideal place to stroll and enjoy the gentle Angevin way of life.

A short escape to Tuscany... or almost!

Welcome to Clisson, an Italian-style gem in the heart of the Nantes vineyards! With its ochre facades, tiled roofs and medieval ambience, you’d think you were in Tuscany… but no, this is the Loire-Atlantique region! Situated some thirty kilometers from the campsite, this medieval village, famous for hosting the Hellfest festival, is also steeped in history. You’re sure to pass its imposing fortress, which plunges you straight back into the era of the Dukes of Brittany, with an unobstructed view over the Sèvre Nantaise. And for even more charm, sit back and admire the view from the Pont de la Vallée, then head for Les Halles. After a romantic stroll through the Italian-style park of La Garenne Lemot, isn’t it time for a glass of Muscadet (in moderation, of course)?
